SLC :)

                  sooo... guess where i went this past weekend guys ;3 ? i went to... STUDENT LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE! it was beast +_____+ and im so sad... cuz like, i got to go with one of my best friends, but the other wun couldnt go cuz she signed up too late -_- so ya. it wasnt as fun as it culda been with her ;/ but, i did go with 3 of my other frens :) i went with, yasmeen,bretman & megan. obviously, bretman didnt share a room with us, cuz he be a boy ;p so we had a different roomate from a different school. hopefully she doesnt mind me mentioning her in this, but her name was rachael. and yea ;p i become semi close her :) lol. at the conference, we did alot of activities & i got to learn alot. SLC didnt turn out the way i thought it was gona be, it was actually better :) when we first arrived @ UH , we had to go rush to our dorms because we had to hurry up cux the bus was coming and then we had to check the room for all the supplies which we didnt have majority of >___> but it was okay. everything was so interesting and new and it was different . it was a really good experience for me. we had 3 motivational speakers that came. 1 for each day :) the first one was Ed Garidy which was very interesting fun & inspiring ! he taught us a lot of lessons, and it went well. the second one, oh. dont even ask .... he was like... o gawd. i was dying ! honestly. im sorry . he was so boring, i fell asleep ..! just saying. its just. he literally told us his life story! and the main point didnt even come till the end! but its okay.. cuz like. he took the time to fly here and share his story, and we all apreciated that. the last person doe. the best one of them all! annetta lucero! she also told us her life story. but she was SUPER interesting ! like no joke. i teared and everything ;') she told us about her disability & how she is still positive, and she taught me a lot. i have a picture with her too ^0^ ill post it later. lol. sorry. its on my phone thas why ;p but ill make sure to post it with this ;D  but anyways, overall, the sessions, the conferences, it was all the best & i'm so dying to go again next year! so thats all i guess :) ! until my next blog, adios ;3 lol i dont even know if i spelt that right. k. bai ! all about me ;p

         hi guys! :) some of you guys know me very well already & some of you dont. but thats why i made this blog ! lol. well, lets start!  my name is Heighlee Lauryn bennett, i was born here on oahu at queens hospsital on october 17 1999 & i've lived in Ewa beach my whole life :) im white, filipino & chinese. i dont like to read that much, but im hoping to improve on that ... i like to swim even doe im not the best swimmer...i was in ballet, tap dancing, softball, soccer, football & wrestling & i like to travel & explore new places and things.

       schools~  for preschool i attended friendship in Ewa & through grades pre-k to 6, i attended Holomua elementary. currently, i'm attending Ilima intermediate school as a 8th grader & i'm in the leadership program as a secretary.


        past~ in my past, i have made alot of mistakes. i got in trouble a lot in elementary & i wasn't really the nicest or smartest kid. but, i really wasn't THAT bad. i was just mean to the people who were mean to me & nice to the people who were nice to me. alot of people didn't like me because they heard stuff about me. but, they didn't really know me, they just judged me & it was annoying. but once 6 grade started, i made new friends and hoped it was for the best. it was :) i made 2 new best friends. and even though i still went through alot of trouble in 6 grade, it wasnt as bad as it was for the other grades. and when i heard of leadership, i really wanted to join. i had a feeling it was going to help me become a better peson. soo, i signed up for an interview.also, why i wanted to be in leadership was because i heard of the kind of responsibilities the leadership kids have & it seemed like stuff i was willing to do . 


       now~ now im very successful through my eyes. i started 7th grade as a leadership student & i also ended 7th grade as a leadership student. and now im a secretary & group leader for my 8th grade year! im really proud of myself ^----^ and i know, sometimes i can be too loud , talkative , mean, strict & it might not seem like im trying to stop, but im really trying to work on keeping it on a average of just being loud when i have to, talking "just enough", being mean only when its needed & being strict only when i have to. also, i want to be more nicer . im setting my standards high, but i think i can accomplish it :) so yea.  


      this year... i have a feeling that this year is going to be really good & i cant wait to see us all become better leaders & come closer and closer to success every day :)

bio cube activity!

hey guys ;3 ! so. up there ^ thats my bio cube :)  ahah. well, i think that my bio cube activity does meet all 6 GLOs & heres why. 

GLO #1- i am a self directed learner because i worked on the cube all by myself and used my own knowlege to make it nice and presentable.

GLO #2- i am a community contributor because while making this, i helped others with theres such as ... cutting there paper, how to make something or do something and much more.

GLO #3-i was a complex thinker because i thought outside the BOX to do some of my work , like the background for each side of the cube & when i explained my answers. 

GLO #4- i was also a quality producer because from my perspective, i made my cube very nice looking & presentable ;p 

GLO #5- i was a effective communicator becuase sometims when i needed help with something like what to use, i asked my peers & they helped me alot. 

GLO #6- lastly, i was a effective and ethical user of technology because i typed out my sides of the cubes & also printing them shortly after.

meet my group :)

heeeeyyy guys ;3 so today, i decided to introduce my group, to all yu guys ;p my group kids are , zhaslyn, roxi, sabrina,trisha, makenzie & keven :)

zhaslyn~ well where do i start?! ;p this girl right here, is the best daughter ever! lol. shes a nice , friendly and she knows how to seperate work time with play time . she's very honest and can get very nervous .. she tells me a lot & even doe we just met like a month ago, she did so much for me and helped me on alot :)

roxi~ roxi is a very serious and hard working gal ;p honestly, when i first met her, i didnt really think she was the friendliest person & i didnt think the nicest things about her. but once you get to know her, shes actually a really nice person & shes very .... how do i say it. organized :) she get things done with quality work and she can focus real good. 

sabrina~ hmm. what can i say about sabrina... shes a very determained person ! she trys to excell in alot of her work & she doesnt give up. i noticed, there was a few bumps along the way, but we managed to look past them. as long as they understand to not make the same mistake once, then i can let it go and only hope for the best in the future... shes very nice & at first, i wasnt really a "fan" of her because i thought she was a slacker, but i learned not to judge a book by its cover, and i looked past that. 

trisha~ one thing i like about trisha is shes a good listener and shes very independent. how? well. i usually only have to explain something to he ronce, and *snap* she knows what to do. also, she can do work by herself and do it right. sure she makes mistakes every now and then, but atleast she trys and makes effort. 

makenzie~  well, i dont know makenzie that well, but i do know some things about her. today was the first day i got to work with makenzie & i actually learned alot. shes a very determained person for one. i recognized this because while she was doing her blogger, someone *important* came in & she didnt even glance at that person, she just kept working. this made me very proud that she didnt stop her job just because someone important to her came in.goodjob mackenzie ^--^

keven ~ i've only known kevin for a day now and i've gotten to learn alot about him. 1) hes not that used to working alot 2) he gets distracted easily 3) he puts effort. i noticed these three things ALOT today. first #1 cuz every time i gave him a task , he wuld huff or sigh (x #2 because he seemed very shocked and suprised when i asked him to do this & then do that, it was just kinda obvious ;p lastly #3 because when it did come to doing the work by himself and prooving to us he can do it, he looked like he was trying hard & ya.

so yea . thats my group guys ^---^ its actually a very big group & last year, i didnt think i wuld be able to handle so much, but nao, i really believe that i can do this and make them great new leaders :) and even though were going to have alot of bumps along the way, i know we are going to be a success in the end . i have a feeling this is going to be a great year, so people, please make that feeling come true! wish us all good luck on our way to success :) ahah. 

GLOs ... schedule pick up ...

this past friday we had schedule pick up. throughout the whole day, i beleive i met all 6 GLOs which is... being a self directed learner, a community contributor, complex thinker, quality producer,effective communicator & effective and ethical user of technology.

first, i was a self directed learner. i was a self directed learner because when i was assigned my first job, which was attaching lanyards to IDs , i had to do it by myself while working & focusing so that i didnt scratch the ID. 

next, i was a community contributor. i was a community contributor because i gave students there ID & also gave students there info pack & schedule.this made me a community contributor because i gave the students what they needed.

i also was a complex thinker & a quality producer. i was a complex thinker because when we ran into problems, such as complaining parents or mad parents, i tried my best to help them & i tried to sattisfy them. i was also a quality producer because i managed to attach the lanyards to the kids IDs without scratching it. (for some of them, not that much...) so obviously, i cant do all the IDs perfect. there was a some i scratched up alittle bit... 

last but not least, being a effective communicator and effective and ethical user of technology. first, i was a effective communicator because i spoke to parents and kids saying, heres your schedule & heres your ID ;p and next, i was a effictive and ethical user of technology because i printed out IDs with my group & i took pictures of the students with my group.

so yea. thats how i met all the GLOs on schedule pick up day :)

2nd week ...check !

          hey bloggers! hows it going? my week was awsome. i got closer to alot of the kids, i taught alot and hopefully, the kids learned alot. you know, its funny, i refer to the new people as "kids" when im a kid too .____. just had to point that out (x well, some highlights of the week... i noticed that the kids are inhaling a lot of information this week & they're really good listeners :) ! that makes me have alot of faith in them. also this week, i got to see some of the kid's breakpoints. like for some of them, their breakpoint is when they do something wrong and for others it might be when they get yelled at or get a "sturn" talking to by me megan or errlyn. one thing i like about the new kids is that they pay good attention when they need to. one thing i dislike about the new kids is that sometimes they cant sepparate  play time from work time. that is when me errlyn or megan are forced to raise our voice or do something to get there attention. its really hard for me to raise my voice to some of the kids because there my good friends, but if it comes to the point where i need to, then i do. i have raised my voice with the 2 other groups so far, but my group hasnt done anything that made me have to. which is a good thing ;p but, im sorry to the other group leaders if it sounds like im bragging .__. im not tryna ! D; but ya. i think its because i warned my group that it shouldnt come to the point where i have to yell...idk. but they really listen to me & it makes me so proud ;D to the other groups, there perfectly fine. i think its just hard because in there groups, they have alot of close friends with them, which can cause talking and stuff >___> but my group, none of them are from the same school, so they arnt close ;p yeaaahh. next, me errlyn and megan got to teach the new kids how to do ID's, intros & music. i have a picture of me teaching the kids how to make intros, which should be included in here. when we taught them these jobs, is when i had to yell. i had to yell inside the music room because people were playing around, talking, singing & dancing. and once one person did that, the whole group got distracted & stopped listening. what really made me mad was when i warned them a couple of times & they still didnt listen! thats why i was forced to yell. so they would understand & stop.  hoepfully, they got it through there heads and wont do it again d; i really dont like yelling at people, but if they do something over and over again even after i warn them, then i have to do what i have to do. one thing i have to get used to as a leader is setting a good example & making all the right decisions for my group. like, assigning jobs. i am soooo not used to assigning jobs yet .__. but, im working on it. i have a small problem of giving them CHOICES of who wants to do what job, but im not supposed to do that! thats what im working on. im trying my hardest to just pick certain people to do a job and telling them to do it,even if they dont wana. sometimes i think of me being bossy while doing this, but i have to think that they have to get used to doing a big variety of jobs here in leadership, so ya. and also setting a good example. this is also soemthing i need to work on because im used to looking up to MY group leader. but now, IM THE GROUP LEADER ! LOL. its just scary. im scared to do something wrong and then my kids are going to make the same mistake because they were following me . but, thats a good thing i guess because it motivates me to do good ;3 ! buht, that was all this week.... imma go nao ;3 so yea. bye!

1st week

The first week was pretty interesting. We got alot done & got to know our peers alittle more. We cleaned the rooms we work in & its really cleaner now :) i love the fact that we all worked together on things we needed to. Such as helping each other put on the border , carrying supplies , moving stuff & more. Honestly, at first i wasnt sure if i was going to like everyone in this new class. But, this week i learned to like them and im actually good with them. There perfectly fine. Of course they need reminders here and there
But hey, there pretty good for beginners :) they have alot to learn more this year, but its okay because i know eventually they'll get the hang of it. Well, thas all i can really say about this week :) this was a good week & im looking forward to many more.
